Brother Clonliffe Schools XC (final instructions)

Wendesday`s Brother at your side Clonliffe Schools Cross Country is fully suscribed. No late entries from schools can be accepted at this stage. Clonliffe club members who`s schools may not be taking part can run as individuals on the day, but must register as “individuals” at check in from 11.00am. Please see Final Instructions below:

Date: Wednesday, 10thof October 2012 – HAIL, RAIN OR SHINE!!

Venue: Santry Demesne Parkland at rear of Morton Stadium Santry.

Time: Primary Schools 12.30 p.m.

Secondary Schools from 1 p.m.

Entry Fee: Secondary Schools – There is an entry fee of €12.00 per team per event. A team is a minimum of four runners with maximum of 20. Or €3.00 per individual. Entry fee to be paid at check in. Primary Schools –There is an entry fee of 20.00 for primary schools per race, if, therefore, there is a team from a particular primary school in both the boys and girls primary school races the entry fee is 40.00. Cheques payable to Clonliffe Harriers or cash.

Parking: Morton Stadium Santry. Buses/coaches must park at the Clonliffe Harriers end of the stadium – gate number 3. For health and safety reasons it is not permissible for buses to allow passengers to alight until such time as the bus has actually parked. Please obey the directions of the parking attendant.

Check In: located in the hall situated in the Clonliffe Harriers clubhouse. Attached you will find a team sheet. Please photocopy this team sheet to suit your requirements. One team sheet per event. The team sheet should be filled in before you arrive at check in and the team sheet should be handed in together with your entry fee at check in. Please only one person from each school to come to check in. Either the teacher or coach in charge of the team. You will then be given an envelope with your school identification number. This number must be stuck to the front of your athletes racing vest/t-shirt.

 

PLEASE NOTE THAT YOU MUST CHECK IN AND YOUR ATHLETES MUST WEAR THEIR RACE NUMBER. ANY ATHLETE ARRIVING TO THE START WITHOUT A RACE NUMBER WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO TAKE PART.

 

Age Groups: The primary school race is open to anyone in 5th and 6th classes and is not subject to age.

Secondary school minor born on or after 1/7/99.

Junior born on or after 1/7/98.

Intermediate born on or after 1/7/96.

Senior born on or after 1/1/94.

Toilet facilities: Are located under the stand at the Clonliffe side of the stadium. Toilets are also located at the main reception area at the stadium. Access to the main reception area is through the outside doors. Please note that the indoor section of the stadium is closed.

The Track: THE TRACK MUST NOT BE ENCROACHED UPON BY ANYONE. THIS IS TO PROTECT THE TRACK WHICH WILL SUFFER SEVERE AND PERMANENT DAMAGE IF SOMEONE WAS WEARING CROSS COUNTRY SPIKES. THEREFORE, THE TRACK IS CLOSED. IT IS VITALLY IMPORTANT THAT YOU ADVISE YOUR ATHLETES THAT THEY ARE NOT PERMITTED ON THE TRACK.

Entry to Venue: Via Morton Stadium – will be sign-posted in the stadium.

                             Senior Girls 2500m

                             Senior Boys 5000m

Each race will commence immediately upon conclusion of the previous race so please, therefore, ensure that your athletes are warmed up and at the start area well before the completion of the previous race.

School Colours: If available must be worn. We would also encourage you to bring flags or suchlike to be placed around the course. Supporters are most welcome.

Awards : First three individuals in each race – presentation will be made to the individuals immediately after each race.

Team awards: First three in each race. A team is a minimum of four athletes with a maximum of 20. The team result will be calculated by the addition of the place finishings of the first four athletes from that school and the school with the lowest score will be declared the winner. In the event of a tie the winner will be decided on the basis of the highest finish of the 4thscoring athlete from the tying schools. Please note that there is only one team permitted per school per event. As up to 20 athletes can run, however, please note that there are only eight team medals available per set.

Souvenir T-shirt: There will be a souvenir T-shirt for all athletes which will be presented at the finish of each race. In the event that there are insufficient t-shirts on the day a reprint of t-shirts will be made and sent separately.

Best Schools: Our sponsor Brother are providing a piece of office equipment from the Brother range to the winning girls primary school and the winning boys primary school. A similar piece of equipment from the Brother range will be presented to the best girls secondary school and also the best boys secondary school. The secondary school competition will be decided on the team results across the four secondary school races (5 points for 1stplace, 3 points for 2nd, 1 point for 3rd). (In the event of a tie the result will be decided on the basis of the best individual results from the two tying schools.

Best Overall School: The Lar Byrne Memorial Perpetual Shield will be presented to the school which is judged to have been the best overall school. This will be decided by the judges based upon not only the results of the team and individual performances but also the schools overall contribution to the days cross country. The best overall school will be announced on www.clonliffeharriersac.com on Oct 11th.

Litter: As we have use of Santry Demesne Parkland thanks to the generosity and co-operation of Fingal County Council we would implore you to appoint an individual/individuals to be responsible for the removal of all litter generated by your athletes. Please bring a sack for litter. Your co-operation in this connection is vital.

Results: A race report together with photographs and the team results and top three individual results will appear on www.clonliffeharriersac.com  Thursday the 11th of October.

Health and Safety: Please obey the instructions of all marshals at the venue. Marshals will be clearly identifiable as they will be wearing high vis vests. Please note that on health and safety grounds all athletes must avail of footwear. No athlete is permitted to race barefoot.

Medical Emergencies: St. John’s Ambulance will be in attendance.

Spectators: There maybe limited parking in the Morton stadium, or in Santry Demesne Park itself, please use the car park, no cars are permitted on the grass in the park. Do not park on the Swords Road as you will find your car either removed or clamped by the authorities.
