Clonliffe juveniles top of the class in the Park & Portmarnock

Excellent runs from the Clonliffe trio in action for their schools in this mornings Community Schools Cross Country in the Phoenix Park. The ever improving Aaron Cullen was 3rd in the junior boys race, Lauren Carr 1st in the junior girls and Craig Giles 1st in the inter boys.

Meanwhile in Portmarnock some of the younger Juveniles were running in a primary school cross country event. While every race had the good old hill or two, the distances were not too long. However, the weather made up for the shortfall. Conditions initially were good (for cross country) insofar as there was only light drizzle but a serious wind coming in from the coast. But this drizzle was short lived as the rain started to attack from above and the side and there was no absolutely no where to shelter from it. Highlights from the Clonliffe gang included: Girls:2005 – Katie Edwards ran superbly to finish 3rd,2003 – Aoife Hession ran brilliantly to finish 1st, 2002 – This race proved to be a cracker for our athletes – Amy Hodson leading the field home, Ella Bergin 3rd, Kristin McGrady 6th and Vicky McDonnell 7th.

Boys: 2004 – James McDonnell ran hard to finish 2nd after getting a poor start he finished fastest of the field and over the last 300 went from 11th to 2nd.

All in all very brave performances from all our athletes which also included Ruth Bowden, Ruby Conroy, Rachel Power, Conor O’Shea, Jamie Hynes, Blaise Carroll, Keith Burke, Ronan Donohoe to name but a few.
