Jun 20, 2010 [Jeremy Lyons] John Fagan finished 10th out of 12 athletes in the 400m hurdles in today’s European Team Championships in Budapest. Making his Irish debut Fagan went in with the slowest time of the 12 athletes but crucially took two more points than expected by finishing 6th in his race and 10th overall. His time of 53.05 is only a half second off his PB and despite admitting to not running the race as he would have liked Fagan is happy that he garnered more points for the Irish team than his pre-race ranking would have predicted.
Ireland lie 8th overall on 130.5 pts and are 33.5 pts clear of the dreaded 11th place that would see them relegated so it’s looking positive. Ian Rogers will do his bit for the cause tomorrow when he competes in the Pole Vault.
