Round up: Flynner helps Razorbacks to win season opener

Clonliffe`s National 3,000 sc champion David Flynn was back in action for Arkansas on the country last night (30th Aug) as he assisted the Razorbacks to a good opening win in the Razorback Invitational in Agri Park.  The early season meet is the Razorbacks’ annual dual competition with Missouri Southern. Arkansas’ top two runners ran as a pack throughout a majority of the 6,600-meter course before race winner Soloman Haile took control of the race. In his first cross country race since the 2010 season, he crossed the finish line in a time of 19:51.4. The Razorbacks occupied six of the top seven spots and had seven inside the top 10 in Thursday’s race. Overall, Arkansas runners combined to give the Razorbacks to a 25-point victory over Missouri Southern, 18-43. Flynner finished fourth for the Razorbacks in 20:40.7.

Meanwhile in the Morton Stadium also on Thursday night the August track series came to a conclusion with the Mile race: 1st Tom Sherlock 4.49, 2nd Niall McArdle 4.50, 3rd Brendan O`Brien 4.51. 1st woman Emer Treacy 6.05.

The BHAA Zurich Mile took place in the Morton Stadium on Saturday morning (Sept. 1st) with Clonliffe Harrier Tom Frayne winning the 7-9 Standard race in 5.06. Darren Reilly was 3rd in the 1-6 Standard in a time of 4.45.
