Ian Guiden 2nd in Drogheda

Oct 15, 2010 [Noel Guiden] A number of the club`s junior and juvenile athletes were in action today in the colours of St. Aidans CBS in the second big school`s race of the season The Drogheda Invitational hosted by St. Josephs CBS. Ian Guiden followed up on his 2nd place in last week`s Brother race with another good performance in the senior boys 5,000m race. Heading out on the final lap Ian drove on trying to run the kick out of Karl Dunne (Joeys) but try as he could he could not shake him off and in the sprint for the line Dunne`s 1.57 800m speed was always going to carry the day. Leaving Ian with his second 2nd place in as many races. Another fine run also in this race from Johnny Bradley Ward who continues his excellent form since the Summer with a fine 6th place. David Tracey, another of Joe Cooper`s Junior squad, also ran well placing 14th, with the St. Aidans 4th man recording a DNF, team medals for the lads were out of the question. In the inter race Liam Ashton was 7th, with a strong race with Conor King, now looking more like himself in 15th, both lads being on the victorious St. Aidans team.
