A large contingent of black and amber clad young athletes gathered in St. Anne’s Park in Raheny for the Dublin Juvenile Cross Country League. In the younger age groups there were a number of new athletes competing for Clonliffe for the first time and there were some fine performances by all.
It is also pleasing to report that there were a couple of wins for Clonliffe athletes and also a number of top five finishes. There was a fine win recorded by Joseph Hession in the Boys U/15 2500 metre race, Joseph running a controlled race at the front of the field and pulling away from his Tallaght AC rival over the final 200. There was also a fine win recorded in the U/9 race by Jonathan Fitzsimons. In the U/16 Boys group Shane Merrigan led the Clonliffe pack home in 3rd place from Sean Carrick 4th, Sean having had an off course excursion mid race. A fine battling performance also in the Girls U/16 race, this was a mixed race, by Alannah Cooley who finished 4th in the U/16 category. A 4th place finish also recorded by Daniel Craig in the Boys U/14.
