Updated round up: Clonliffe at BHAA, Great Run and beyond

A busy weekend for Clonliffe athletes on the roads at home and away. Starting off with yesterday`s BHAA Dublin County Council 4 Mile Road Race in St. Anne`s, Raheny where Tom Sherlock had a very good run placing 5th in 21.47. In the women`s 2 Mile another 5th place finish for a Clonliffe athlete with Maura Matthews in 12.11 chased hard by Bernie Byrne 8th some 6 seconds later (12.17)

At the Greater Manchester Marathon, Old Trafford today Maurice McCrohan ran 3.07 also in the field was Hans deRaymeaker (he finished not too far behind Maurice, time not yet to hand).

In Dublin`s Phoenix Park the Great Ireland Run was on offer, incorporating the National 10k Road Championships. Top club man was Brian MacMahon 8th in 31.59. Also Ciaran McCarthy 34.31, David Byrne 34.56, Tom Sherlock, doing a Gary 2 days 2 races 35.50, Ernie Ramsey 36.03 and Alan Worrall 42.57. In the Great Ireland Junior Run, young Cillian Forrester was an excellent 3rd place.
