Congratulations to our club mate Sergiu Ciobanu who today, suitably attired in his Clonliffe Harriers tie and Irish flag pin, finally became an Irish citizen. The 100th Irish Citizenship Ceremony took place at the National Convention Centre, Spencer Dock, Dublin where over 2,000 people from all corners of the globe became Irish Citizens, including the reigning National Marathon Champion, former National Cross Country Champion, Clonliffe Harrier and all round great guy Sergiu. At the ceremony he took the oath of fidelity to the nation: “I Sergiu Ciobanu solemnly declare my fidelity to the Irish nation and my loyalty to the state, I undertake to faithfully observe the laws of the state and to respect it’s democracy values” and was presented with his Certificate of Naturalisation.
