Round up:Sinead 1st Clonliffe at Eircom CC/ Piercy and Graham

Sinead Hartnett was the first Clonliffe athlete home in Saturday morning`s BHAA Eircom Cross Country races. After the exceptionally heavy rain lasting all day and night it was a tad wet in Cherryfield Park, Firhouse. Sinead was 7th in the women`s 2 mile race in 13.31 with Kerri Page 14th in 14.16. The men`s race was a testing 5 miles in the mud. First of the Clonliffe crew was Chris Muldoon 9th (29.04), Conor Keane finished well up the field 11th in 29.32 with Ernie Ramsey another two places behind 13th (29.48) Conor Delaney 54th (32.15).  (Omissions text name, place and time to 0879599888)

Also on Saturday Clonliffe man Eoin Pierce, who is currently living in England, had a very good run in the Chingford  Cross Country league placing 2nd  in a time of 28.43 for the 5.2 miles. On a snow covered course Piercy got off to a good start with an opening mile split of 5.20 but was left alone in 3rd place and recording splits averaging just under 5.30 but pulled himself back into contention taking 2nd place on the long run in and closing up on the winner.

News of a Clonliffe man further afield Graham Mahon now back in Clarkes University, Iowa after his Christmas holiday at home in Santry, was competing over the weekend at the Karl Schlender Invitational Indoor Meet where he ran 5.01.01 for the mile to finish 14th and ran the opening leg in the Distance Medley Relay as the Crusaders squad finished 3rd.
