St. Aidans take All Ireland Intermediate title

It was a proud day in Waterford for St Aidans and Clonliffe Harriers as the St Aidan’s intermediate team defied all expectations by landing the All Ireland schools cross country title in a nailbiting finish that saw them score 66 points, the same as St Michaels Enniskillen but for the Whitehall outfit to take the title on count back. The scoring 4 are all Clonliffe athletes: Tom Breslin 6th, Rory Quill 17th, Sean Henry 21st and Devan Morrisey 22nd. These 4 were very well backed up by Alister Anith 56th, Tadgh O’Brien 59th and Jack McDonnell 68th. There was an outstanding run in this Intermediate race to 5th place by Matei Ursachi (St. Pauls).

In the senior boys race Sam Murray (St Aidan’s) was an excellent 17th and with the club and teammates Sean Boyne 22nd and Cillian Keegan 34th the St Aidan’s team 40 finished just outside of the medals in 4th position a mere 4 points off bronze.

Congratulations to all and in particular to Alan O’Neill and Greg Hosseny.
