Bankholiday weekend round up; including Clonliffe`s Marathon Men (updated)

The round up starts on the track at the first IMC Meet of the season in Greystones on Saturday where Mark McDonald was 6th in the 800 A race in 1.57.63. Gary Scott was 2nd in the 200 B race in 24.08.

Also on Saturday at the British University Championships in Bedford Liam Roarty ran a 1500 pb of 4.22.44 in his heat, but didn`t progress to the semis.

Then, Sunday May 1st Sean Doran had a fine run in the Tallaght 5k road race finishing 6th overall (16.34), and subject to official confirmation was well have taken Dublin Novice bronze.

Clonliffe`s top marathon men were on the roads on Sunday. First off after his marathon pb in London last Sunday Gary O`Hanlon was back in the saddle winning the Boyne 10k in 32.09 to win by almost a minute. At the Great Limerick Run Sergiu Ciobanu, still the third fastest of the Rio Marathon qualfiers, won the 6 mile race in 29.37. A surprise starter was London Olympic Marathon man Mark Kenneally 2nd in 29.59.

In the USA David Flynn will be disappointed with the outcome of his race in 3000 sc at the Payton Jordan Invitational in Stanford on Sunday afternoon placing 13th in 9.18.79, not even close to reflecting the work he`s been putting in during training. At the same meet later in the day Declan Murray recorded a 1.49.14 800.

Finally on the round up, Bank Holiday Monday Pat Bonass was 21st overall and 1st O/60 in the Royal County 5k held in Kells in 23.32.
