Updated weekend round up: Letterkenny in the rain!

Clonliffe athletes were in Letterkenny yesterday (Saturday) for the official opening of the Danny McDaid track and the Sub 4 Challenge. Weather conditions conspired again fast times, lashing rain, cold and windy. Good to see Mark Kenneally back racing again after a long absence. Mark was 4th in the 3000m in 8.26.27. Young Aaron Hanlon was 7th (8.37.57) and Dave Fitzmaurice 8th (8.46.24). In the 800 Kris Valters was 3rd in 1.53.36, not bad at all in the conditions. Mark McDonald was 9th (1.58.66). Edgar Sentkis was 2nd in the mixed 3000 in 8.46.3. In the shot Tomas Rauktys was 3rd with a best of 16.17. Keith Pike was 5th in the 100 (11.28)  with Isreal Ibeanu 7th (11.52)

In case his fan club was wondering…..yes he raced this weekend…..Gary O`Hanlon won Friday night`s (May 17th) Cooley Costal 12.5k in 40.37, a winning margin of nearly two minutes.

At this morning`s (Sunday`s) big road race in Dublin the Terenure 5 Mile Mile Sergiuu Ciobanu lead home the big field to take the win in 24.37 and Gary was there in 2nd place (25.19), other Clonliffe 19th Chris Muldoon (27.09), 24th Davy Byrne (27.31), Ciaran McCarthy (28.00).
