Nov 22, 2008 [Noel Guiden] A pretty poorly attended Clonliffe AGM took place in the club bar this afternoon. The attendance heard annual reports from the club captains outlining the many successes of Clonliffe athletes throught this last year the highlight being the Historic Senior men`s treble of National Road Relay, National Cross Country and National Track and Field titles. Future plans were outlined which include the hosting of the National Masters/Intermediate Cross Country, The National Senior/Junior Cross Country, The Clonliffe Schools Invitational Cross Country and Clonliffe`s involvement in the hosting of the European Cross Country Championships on the 13th of December 2009.
The following were elected as the club`s officers and Committee for 2008/09:
President: Paddy Marley
Hon. Secretary: Noel Guiden
Hon. Treasurer: Paddy Tuite
Captain: Joe Cooper
Ladies Captain: Pamala Cooper
Committee: Jeremy Walsh, Mick Kearney and Johnny O`Leary.
There were two Motions before the meeting both of which where passed:
1. “That the club`s officers under the chair of the President carry out a thorough review of the club`s Constitution with a view to making such recommendations to the club`s members as may be required to lead to it`s modernisation and that future reviews be carried out on a similar basis every five years”
2. ” In recognition of his services to the club that Noel Daly be made an honorary Vice President of Clonliffe Harriers AC”.
In his Presidential address Paddy Marley thanked all concerned with the success of the club over the passed 12 months and praised highly the work of the club`s officers and committee. He thanked all the club`s sponsors and stressed that with the activities planned for next year and with the club being involved in both the European clubs cross country and track and field that all members of the club must support all of the club`s fund raising activities. He also expressed the club`s thanks to Bronagh O`Brien on her three years as ladies captain from which she was stepping down.
