Wednesday nights latest round of the Dublin Graded was held in the Morton Stadium Santry on another perfect night for athletics. There were some eye-catching performances on the night in particular in the 5000 metres where young Aaron Hanlon had his first outing on the track in a number of months finishing in a fine 2nd place in a time of 14.37.53 some 7 seconds behind Raheny’s Mick Clohisey, however, finishing Aaron`s wake were seasoned international athletes Sean Hehir (Rathfarnham) and David Rooney (Raheny). There was a good outing also in this race by David Flynn who was 5th in 15.08.49.
Another athlete showing a welcome return to form was Patrick O’Connor who had a good run in the 200 metres finishing 2nd in Grade A in 22.92. 4th in this race was Stuart Roche 23.04.
Simon Galligan was 1st senior in the Hammer with a best of 49.76. In the Women’s Hammer Caoimhe Morris was 2nd with a best of 43.22, Frances Mansfield was once again in action in the Graded throwing 15.34.
Other Clonliffe performances on the night included Emear Treacey’s 4th place finish in the Women’s 200B in 28.74. Super Vet Matt Slattery who recently won four Leinster Masters titles was 7th in Grade C Race 2 (28.74).
In the middle distance races Louise Reilly placed 6th in the 1500 (4.46.91), in Grade B Greta Streimikyte ran 5.04.28.
There was a 2nd place finish for Andriu Jenkinson in the 1500 in 4.02.37 whilst in Grade B Thomas Sherlock was 10th in 4.26 (HT). David Brady in the 5000 B race ran 17.31.98.
Finally back to the field events David Donegan was 3rd in the Pole Vault (4.20m) and Andrii Mahin won the triple jump in 14.20m and was 4th in the High Jump 1.50m.
Graded Meet number 6 takes place on Wednesday July 1st in Tallaght, available events on the night include on the track – 400, 3000, 2000 Steeple Chase and field events – Shot, Discus and Long Jump.
