Stephen Bateson reports: Meet 3 of this season’s Track and Field Live took place in the NIA in Abbotstown last night, December 13th. There was small contingent of Clonliffe Harriers competing in the event, most of which were making their indoor season opener, gaining experience before the Christmas break and the championships and indoor leagues in the new year.
In Heat 1 of series 1 of the 60 m Evan Storey ran 7:83 finishing in 5th, Adam Festus ran in Heat 2 finishing in 1st in 7:60. In series 2 of the 60m Evan Storey improved on his first race with an improved time of 7:77. This was Evan’s first time running indoors and over the shorter indoor distance, so he improved on his Pb.
In the Men’s 400 m Christopher Lynch prevailed in a very competitive heat even though there were only 3 runners. Christopher showed strength to come through to win in a pb of 52:65m.
In the women’s 400m Naoise Cullen was in Heat 2, finishing in 4th in 1:11:83, while in Heat 3 Jenny Johnston also finished in 4th in 1:04:14.
In the men’s 3000m Cillian Keegan took to the line in a stacked line up with notable competitors in Sean Tobin and John Travers, with pacing by Jonas Stafford. Cillian had a plan to run sub 9:00 and stuck this to run a very consistent laps to record a pb of 8:57:21 and first time under 9:00.
In the Women’s mile Sarah Bateson made a happy return to the track finishing 3rd in a time of 5:14: ## (official results awaited). Averaging laps of 38:74. In the Men’s mile Ryan Sheridan ran his first mile since school and recorded a pb of 4:53.
In the women’s 800m Greta Streimikyte ran in the Heat * and finished in ??. (Results not yet available)
In the field event Rolus Olusa was placed 1st in the Pole Vault with a modest height of 3:00.
