Club Record gets a hammering at graded Meet

Caoimhe Morris continued her assault on the Clonliffe Club Record Books at last night’s Dublin Graded Meet Number 2 as she extended her existing hammer record from 40.67 to 42.36 on her fourth throw of what was an excellent series:  38.91, 40.02, 42.25, 42.36, 38.53 and 40.67 as Caoimhe placed 2nd in the event. Frances Mansfield placed 7th with a best of 16.5.

Other Clonliffe wins last night came firstly courtesy of Megan Coomber with a best in the long jump of 5.06 as Megan makes her final preparations in advance of Saturday’s Leinster Schools.

In the Men’s Fields events, Simon Galligan got his season underway in the hammer finishing 2nd, and 1st 6kg, with a best throw of 55.23. Manual Calvo-Curry was 3rd, 2nd 6kg 954.46). David Donegan won the pole vault with a best of 4.45.

On the track Chris Russell ran his first race in the Morton Stadium for Clonliffe finishing 2nd in the 200 in 21.97. Stuart Roche was 3rd in his race in 23.1.

In the 1500 metres Chris Valters was 8th in 4.04.56. Mounir Bousian was 13th in 4.10.46. Tom Sherlock was 4th in his race 4.22.71 with Phillip O’Doherty 8th 4.29.52. In the D Race three of the U/17 squad made very promising starts with Josh Stubbs finishing 5th in 4.43.74 with Ross Kearney breathing down his neck (4.44.75) and Paul Courtney in finishing 15th broke 5 minutes recording a time of 4.57.99.

The Dublin 10,000 metre championships opened the proceedings, in this race Declan Power ran a new PB in finishing 4th 32.39.28, Johnny Bradley-Ward ran 38.15.6.

Some of the Clonliffe ladies were also in action, Snezana Bechtina was 5th in her 200 in 27.5, Seanna Reilly was 2nd in her race 27.37, Kate Hession ran 29.74 with Ciara Lynnott running 29.99.

Becky Woods, having acted as pacemaker for Ciara Everard (UCD AC) continued on her way in the 1500m to finish 3rd in 4.40.71. Louise Reilly was 11th (4.55.23). In grade B Roisin Leahy finished 2nd in 5.01.23, Gretta Streimikite was 6th in 5.30.15.

Meet Number 3 in the Graded Series is on the 29th of May when the programme will include 400m, Mile, 3000m, discus, shot, javelin and triple jump.
