Dublin Juvenile Championships Abbottstown this weekend

The Clonliffe juvenile athletes will be taking part in the Dublin Indoor Championships this coming weekend. For the first time this will be a true indoor championship with the event being held at the superb national indoor arena in Abbottstown.

This is a three day championship which will start tomorrow evening with the relays and continue throughout Saturday and Sunday.

There are some important points which the club would like to draw parents and athletes attention to concerning these championships:

There is a huge entry over the course of the three days – the organisers will do their best but there will without a doubt be overruns on scheduling and the patience of all concerned would be appreciated.

If at all possible the organisers have requested that people carpool.

There is an admission fee to these championships of €5.00 per day or €10.00 for the weekend. This is to assist the Dublin Athletic Board with the substantial cost of hiring the arena for these championships.

The only people allowed on the track and in field are the athletes themselves.

The warmup area will be strictly controlled and athletes are requested not to use the warmup area until the organisers declare the warmup area open for a particular event/age group.

The maximum length of spikes is 5mm. Athletes please also ensure that your spikes are clean after the cross country season.

As this is a championship event Clonliffe athletes must wear their club vest.

It is expected to be a long day – heats of certain events will take place in the morning with the finals later in the afternoon/early evening. Please bear this in mind and bring sufficient food and drinks for the day.  On the subject of drinks the air inside the arena is dry and it will be warm.  Please bring lots of drinks for the day.
