A brilliantly controlled performance from Edel Maguire at the European Masters championships in Torun, Poland on March 19th saw her take the European W60 400 title. Earlier in the morning Edel qualified comfortably for the final winning her heat in a comfortable 72.39 and then later in the day in the final she was always in control winning European gold in 69.12, almost 2 seconds clear of second-place.
March 22nd and Edel added 200 bronze to her collection. In the W60 200 heat 1 Edel finished 1st in 30.66, in the semi-final she placed 2nd (29.91) and then in the final took bronze with the 29.95 run.
Katherine Markey in the W55 200 qualified for the semi-final courtesy of a 30.53 heat and then the final finished 6th in 30.68.
Snezana Bechtina was 4th in her W40 200 heat (27.31).
March 23rd in the O/60 4 x 200 mixed relay Edel Maguire completed the set as the Irish team took silver, also Katherine Markey won W55 4 x 200 relay bronze.
