Clonliffe Harriers AC cordial invitates all runners, both fun runners and club runners, to participate in Ireland’s oldest road race the Clonliffe 2. The 2 Mile race has its own unique history dating back to the 18th century with this year marking the 121st running. Each entrant will receive a special commemorative tee shirt celebrating this unique occasion. The race takes place on the evening of Wednesday 9th May 2012 with an 8pm start.

The 2 Mile has had a number of venues since its was first held back in the 1890’s. For the past quarter of a century the race has finished at Eugene Kavanagh’s pub (the Gravediggers) in Prospect Square, Glasnevin, Dublin 11 adjacent to the famous cemetery. Eugene Kavanagh has been the race sponsor since 1986.

Race Date and Start Time: Wednesday 9th May 2012 at 8pm

Race start: Finglas Village, Dublin 11 right opposite the “Bottom of the Hill” pub.

Race finish: The race finishes outside Eugene Kavanagh’s, the” Gravediggers” Pub, Prospect Square, Glasnevin, Dublin 11.

Course: The race commences on the dual carriageway, opposite the “Bottom of the Hill” pub and then proceeds towards Glasnevin. The first mile is downhill. Thereafter there is a gradual climb for approximately 600 meters. The course is then flat as its passes Glasnevin Cemetery right through to the finish at the Gravediggers pub in Prospect Square, Glasnevin, Dublin 11.

You can register online at www.runireland.com (see link below) The fee is €15.00. Those registering online can collect their number from 6.30pm on race night at St Vincent’s CBS School, Harts Corner, Glasnevin, Dublin 11.

Race check in and changing facilities: Race check in and changing facilities are located in St Vincent’s CBS School, Harts Corner, Glasnevin, Dublin 11. Registrations will be taken on the night of the race from 6.30- 7.30pm. A fee of €15 is payable on the night. You are advised to check in by 7.30pm as it is a 25-minute jog from the check in point to the race start in Finglas Village.
