Day two of the North Leinster Schools Track and Field took place in the Morton Stadium today. Once again, as has been the case all week, there were excellent performances from the Clonliffe athletes in action for their respective schools. Today was a day when the club’s field eventers in particular shone. Pride of place goes to the javelin throwers. Ryan Whelan was 1st in the boys senior javelin with Hannah McLoughlin taking 1st in the girls intermediate javelin. Hannah also finished 4th in the shot putt. In the intermediate discus competition Michael Curley was 2nd. On the track the club may well have discovered a future race walker as Greg Hossenny finished 2nd in the junior 800m race walk. On Tuesday Greg finished 3rd in the junior 800m. In the boys inter 3000m Aaron O’Hanlon followed up his fine 1500m win on Wednesday with a North Leinster double wining comfortably in 9.07. John Buckley was 4th with Niall Norman 7th. Ian Guiden impressed in the senior boys 5000 clocking his second PB of the week of 16.04.38 after running solo for eight of the twelve and a half laps. Johnny Bradley-Ward signed off on his schools athletics career with a 6th place finish in the senior 2000 SC and later in the morning a 4th place finish in the 5000m.
