Good morning for Clonliffe athletes in Blackrock

The school`s cross country season continued bright and early this morning in the beautiful surroundings of Blackrock College for the annual Blackrock Invitational. The big surprise was how good the running was after the non stop rain of recent days as early morning rain drifted away. The conditions were simply perfect. There were only a few of the Clonliffe crew out today. First in action was Ella Brown in the junior girls who ran a very well judged race, with the race winner off to a flying start Ella controlled the real race breaking away to finish well clear in 2nd place. Next in was Ian McElweaney who also ran very well indeed and looked very comfortable in placing 6th in the junior boys. Tess Loftus was next into the fray in the inter race, Tess holding back a bit in the early stages and coming through strongly to finish 5th. Finally Ben Guiden ran very well indeed in the inter boys with a strong 4th place finish to lead Belvedere to team gold.
