Graded meet comes back to Morton

It was a special evening in the Morton Stadium tonight with the Dublin graded meet being the first competition in the newly refurbished stadium. The weather gods even played their part with the blue track bathed in glorious Midsummer’s day sunshine.

The meet kicked off with the 800s where in grade A Greta Streimyte 5th in a fine 2.15.36. Grade B was like a Clonliffe Harriers club championship, Niamh Kelly recorded a PB of 2.18.97 as she finished 1st, Sarah Bateson took 2nd 2.22.41 also a PB, Jenny Johnston 3rd (2.23.02) and Emma Campbell 6th (2.33.86). Grade C also featured considerable Clonliffe interest, Caoime O’Reilly was 5th in 2.33.32, 6th was Ciara Boulman (2.33.99) and 7th Hazel Kenny (2.35.65).

Sean Cronin ran a PB in grade A of the men’s 800s clocking 1.53.93 in placing 7th in a high quality race. In grade B, heat 1, Lorcan Benjacar took 1st place with a PB of 2.00.22 with Oren Kenny 2nd 2.00.44. In heat 2 Sean Carrigg was 8th (2.02.75)

Leah Bergin came down in distance as she placed 3rd in the 200 A race – 25.46. In the B race Clodagh Dunbar was 3rd (26.05) with Molly Haslam 6th (26.98). Grade D saw Rebecca Walsh take 1st (25.62) and in 2nd place Blaitin Ni Chiarin (27.64).

Keith Pike was 2nd in the 200 B (22.65) whilst in the C race Michael Deady was 5th (24.54) with Jarlath Jordan 6th (24.64).

Cathal McHale waa 4th in the 5000 in 15.50.70. In grade D Jack Quinn 4th 18.37.80, Tom Monks 21.10.62.

Frances Mansfield was in the throws, 3rd in the hammer (2kg) 18.75 and 4th in the discus 11.97. Joe Gibbons was 8th in the discus 21.74.
