Guiden leads Clonliffe PB charge

Stephen Bateson reports: In tonight’s St Cocas 5k in Kilcock village Ian Guiden continued his excellent form on the roads making it a hat trick of wins.

The course is a relatively flat, fast course on country roads and the good weather made for a great nights racing. The event is a very popular club race with close to 500 entries and was very well organised.

Ian finished 14:12 well clear of the field and his fastest time on the road over the 5k distance. There were no teams prizes however Clonliffe Men would certainly have taken the spoils as Ian was backed up by Richie Owens in 8th place in 15;11, Stephen Cashin in PB form in 9th in 15.12, and Ed Tottenham was 17th in 15:42, a PB by some 2 minutes. The other Clonliffe Men were Fintan Kerins in 15:49 PB and 21st , Anto Doran also in a PB of 16:30 to place 48th and Stephen Harkness in 17:42 and 119th.

The ladies team all recorded PB’s and were lead home by Laura Tuite in 124th place in a fine time of 17:42, Sarah Hawkshaw was 190th in 18:55, in 203rd place Sarah Bateson ran 19:04 and Kate O Connell was 345th in 21:57.
