“Injured” Gary O`Hanlon makes it three out of three in Dundalk Half

Clonliffe man and local legend Gary O`Hanlon defied injury in his home race on the streets of Dundalk last night to win his third Dundalk Half Marathon in a row. Gary was in tip top shape earlier in the year, witness his third place finish in the National cross country as proof, and training hard for a late Spring marathon when he was struck down by injury. The word from the man himself was that he`d be out for the rest of the season and so it appeared to be until Physical Therapist Mark Bermingham got his hands on him, literally. A few sessions later and Gary last Saturday ran his first track session of the season: 300s in Santry and well off the pace to boot. So the news of his home race win last night is as surprising as it is welcome.  Gary`s winning time this year is also pretty darn impressive 69:54, his fastest winning time of the three: 2010 time was 72:18, 2011 72:30. Not bad for a guy who is currently injured!!
