Eugenia Bateson reports: The sun shone on the Morton Stadium this week, which can only mean one thing – Schools Track and Field! The prize: precious places on the start line for the Leinster Schools Track & Field Finals in May.
Clonliffe athletes representing their schools from North, West and East Leinster took to the track and field.
Some notable results wereSorcha O’Connor – 1st in Senior Steeplechase
Sean Cronin – 1st in Senior Boys 1500m (East Leinster)
Jonathan Fitzsimons 1st in Senior Boys 400m (North Leinster)
Christopher Lynch – 2nd in Senior Boys 400m (West Leinster)
James Duane – 2nd in 400m Hurdles (West Leinster)Both Christopher and James were on the winning 4x400m team for Belvedere College
Tadgh Cowley finished 3rd in the Steeplechase (North Leinster)
Bilal finished 2nd in 200m
Sophie Kiernan – 2nd in 1500m Junior Girls
Sam O’Reilly – 2nd in 200m U16 (North Leinster)
Sarah McDonnell finished 3rd in Intermediate Girls 200m
Edy Blaque – 4th in U16 Mile
Emily Jachna finished 4th in 100m Senior Girls
Leah O’Reilly 4th in Junior 1500m
Rebecca Walsh finished 4th in the Intermediate Girls 300m
Joshua Chalmers – 6th in U16 Mile
Aisling Kehoe finished 8th in Senior Girls 3,000
Harriett Kenny 9th in Inter Girls 1500m
Lucy McFetridge – 8th in Minor Girls 1500
Medals were also spotted around the necks of Tom Breslin and Matei Ursachi but waiting for full set of results to see what they were for!!
