Looking ahead to 2017 we look back at 2016 Performances

Killian Lonergan , club stats man, reviews 2016 just as the 2017 Indoor seasons gets underway with two new club records already: “a review of our 2016 and All Time performance lists might help in setting some goals. With a strong result at May’s European Team Club Championships in Portugal a big focus for the club, lets all get behind the athletes and coaches throughout the 2017 Track and Field season.

Notable items from 2016.

Men’s Track: Aaron Hanlon, Antonio Garcia, Brian Gregan, Chris Sibanda, David Flynn and Sergiu Ciobanu top the rankings in two events. After a five years away from the top, Conor Healy returns to claim the 1500m lead.

The average age of athletes on the list was 28, with plenty of youth spread across all events.

Men’s Field: Luke Mangan is back. Keith Marks breaks both the Junior and Senior record in one leap Marcin is as reliable as ever Gunning magic in the Javelin

Women’s Track: Snezana shows up in 7 different Track events (and 3 in the field!) Eimear O’Brien heads up 3 events.

Women’s Field: Jill Maloney and Aursa Jerumbauskyte each broke a record and head our performance chart The reliables appear again and again – Denise, Caoimhe, Snezana and the forever young Frances Mansfield.

All Time lists:

On the Men’s side, with Keith and Rory setting records, other movers in to top 3 positions were Antonio Garcia, (110m H, 2nd), Chris Sibanda (200m, 2nd), Tim Crowe (400m H, 3rd), Andri Mahin (Triple Jump, 3rd) and Simon Galligan (Hammer, 2nd).

Those moving in to top 20 lists, were Keith Pike(200m), Tim Crowe (200m), Aaron Hanlon (10000m), Stephen Scullon (marathon), Gary O’Hanlon (marathon), Keith Marks (High Jump), Justinas Gerdvilis (Javelin), Alan Gunning (Javelin), David McElligott (Javelin).

On the Women’s side, with Jill and Aurssa setting records, other movers in to top 3 positions were Ciara McCallion (400m, 2nd), Jill (Javelin, 2nd) and Aurusa (Triple, 2nd).

Those moving in to top 20 lists, were Caithlin O’Reilly, Snezana Bechtina, Emma Kelly and Rebecca Fitzsimons (100m), Snezana Bechtina (100m H), Caitlin O’Reilly and Rebecca Fitzsimmons (200m), Leah Bergin and Emma Kelly (400m), Diana Markina and Emma Kelly (400m H), Eimear O’Brien and Greta Streimikyte (1500m), Eimear O’Brien (3000m), Jill Maloney (Discus), Denise Byrne (Hammer) and Snezana Bechtina (Javelin).
