Patrick and Ryan pick up gold

Patrick O’Connor came away from Tullamore with another National Gold medal yesterday, this time in the Under 19 200m. With a time of 22.28 secs, Patrick finished well clear of the field. Stuart Roche was 6th in the same race with a time of 23.29 secs.

While Patrick was burning it up on the track, Ryan Whelan was taking the Gold medal in the Under 17 Javelin. With a throw of 50.55m, Ryan was over 4 metres clear of his nearest rival.

Our other Ryan, Ryan Cleary, captured the silver medal in the Under 17 3000m Walk. With a time of 16.11.85 he finished just 8/100th’s ahead of the bronze medal winner.

Michael Curley was competing in the Under 16 Shot Putt. With a distance of 12.81m, he was just outside of the medals in 4th place.

Liam Ashton ran in the Under 17 1500m and finished 17th in a time of 4.27.12

The Clonliffe girls were competing as well yesterday. Roisin Leahy was 7th in a time of 5.07.46 in a very competitive Under 18 1500m.

Also 7th, this time in the Under 16 200m was Seanna Reilly in a time of 27.27 secs.

Over at the latest BMC installment in Trafford, Conor Healy ran a season’s best 1500m time when finishing in 3.49.77 for 9th place. Gary O’Hanlon was 3rd in his 1500m season opener, with a time of 3.57.63
