Young Clonliffe sprinter Patrick O`Connor took another step forward in his most promising athletes career with an outstanding performance in Tullamore at today`s Irish Schools Tailtann Games. First off he won the 100m in an excellent 10.8(h), then he took victory in the 200 in a storming 21.7(h) taking some .3 of a second off Arthur Devine`s 33 year old record and finally to take a hat trick of golds he ankered Leinster to 4 X 100m relay win. Fittingly Patrick was awarded the Fr. Lonergan Trophy as “Athlete of the Meet”. Last weekend of course Patrick was a double sprints gold medalist in the Dublin U/18 track and field. Next up for this young sprints star is the Hireco Clonliffe/IMC Grand Prix in the Morton Stadium on Thursday followed by the National Juvenile Championships in Tullamore next weekend where he goes in both the 100 and 200.
