The 3rd race in the Grand Prix series (1 mile track), took place Thursday 3 May. There were 4 Races on the night, required to accommodate another large number of athletes. The next race is this Thursday, in Malahide at 8.00. It will be 1 loop of Malahide, an open handicap of 2.5 miles, we are racing for the McCarrick plate, kindly sponsored by Eugene McCarrick.
The winner in the handicap was Dave Brennan who beat his predicted time by 18 seconds, followed by Clive Ahern and then Tom Sherlock. The fastest athlete again was Darren Reilly who finished in 4.39, the fastest lady again was Bernie Byrne in 5.46. A special mention to Pat Healy, who at the sprightly young age of 68, ran a sub 6 minute mile, to finish in 5.59. Also, a big thank you to our sponsor of the mile race, Noel Guiden.
The overall leader after three races is Alan Worrall by 3.5 points, in second place is Dave Dunwoody with Darren Reilly in third a further 2.5 points back.
