The Leinster U/23 Championships took place in a wet and wild Claremont Stadium, Navan today. Clonliffe`s Lorna Begley had her biggest win todate taking the Leinster 800m title in 2.21. Mark McDonald was 3rd in the U/23 men`s 800 in 1.55. County Meath proved to be a happy hunting ground all round for Clonliffe athletes as last night, just returned from the States, Dave Flynn lead home Gary O`Hanlon in the Braveheart Trail Run in Trim in 16.07, Gary was recorded a second behind Flynner, although another source had the Clonliffe duo dead heating? Flynner also took in the Park West 10k the following day, Sunday the 17th, to record a good win in 33:09, almost 30 seconds clear of former Clonliffe man Kevin English (Donore). Maurice McCrohan was 14th (38:47) running in his back yard, well his office back yard.
Results also from today`s (Sunday) Trail Challenge International in the Lake District in England where the four Clonliffe athletes put in stirling performances in the Irish Green vest Brian McMahon was 3rd (32:44) with James Kevan 11th (34:34). In the elite senior women`s race Sarah McCormack was an excellent 2nd (36:58) and Louise Hill Sterling 5th in the junior women`s race.
