Weekend Round up: 5000 win for O`Brien plus more

In torrential rain for much of yesterday`s Intervarsities Match at Morton Stadium Adam O`Brien enjoyed a gun to tape win over 5000 (15.21.63-unofficial) in the green vest.

Also yesterday in Tullamore at the Bertie Quinn Track & Field Cian Bolger ran 2.02.68 in pretty horrible weather. In the 200 Snezana Bechtina was 3rd (26.01).

On Saturday evening Eoin Pierce ran a good 1500 at the BMC Sportscity Meet in Manchester running a season`s best of 3.52.80.

On the roads today (Sunday the 28th) Stephen Scullion ran a fine 10k in the Great Manchester Run to 7th place in 29.25. David Brady won the Newtownmountkenndey 5k over an undulating road/trail course in 17.27.

Today, at Morton Stadium, at the AAI Games there was a second pb in a week for Cathal Doyle this time in the 1500 (3.55.97). Andri Mahin, more noted as a hurdler, high jumper and triple jumper ran a 2.02.00 800 placing 6th and another pb for Shaun Connaghan 2.02.63 just behind in 7th. in the 400 there was a Clonliffe one two: Leah Bergin 1st (57.23) and Emma Kelly 2nd (60.12). Leah Moore was 4th in the 200 (24.88).
