The historic GV Ryan event, hosted by Crusaders witnessed a series of IMC races in Irishtown last night. Despite the inclement weather Clonliffe athletes showed up in force and put the finishing touches to their preparations for next weekend’s National Championships.
Stuart Roche, running in to a headwind of -2.8, finished 6th in the 100m in a time of 11.71 secs. Larry Brady was 12th in his 1500m with a time of 4.18.22. Becky Woods was 2nd in her 1500m in a time of 4.42.57.
In the 800m races we had a big season best by Kristaps Valters when he finished 5th in 1.52.57. Lorna Begley continued her streak of setting personal best times when she crossed the line with a time of 2.18.92 for 9th place.
Mark McDonald won the B 800m in a time of 1.56.19, with Andriu Jenkinson in 5th 1.57.05
Out on the roads, Gary O’Hanlon, Brian MacMahon and David Fitzmaurice squared off in the Kilcock 5km on Friday night. Colin Costello was the winner while our boys finished in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th with times of 15.01, 15.09 and 15.28.
Not pleased to sit in for the rest of the weekend Gary and Brian showed up for the Irish Runner 5 mile on Saturday morning! Leading home over 4000 finishers, Gary took the victory in a time of 24.53. Brian was 2nd in 25.00. Michael MacDiarmada made a welcome return to racing when finishing 5th in a time of 26.15.
Other Clonliffe athletes competing under 30mins were: Christopher Muldoon (28.08), Ernie Ramsey (28.27), Darren Reilly (28.38), Tom Sherlock (29.28), and Ailish Malone finishing 4th Women in 29.45.
