Women In Sport and the Parklife

To celebrate ‘women in sport’ week a large contingent of Clonliffe Harriers made the short trip to Poppintree Park, Ballymun for this morning’s Park run. Spring was definitely in the air it was a beautiful morning in north Dublin crisp dry and sunny. The Clonliffe women were out in force drawn from all sections of the club from the juvenile’s through seniors and Masters with in excess of 30 taking part including a number of the menfolk! The group all well and truly decked out in the Clonliffe colours received a great welcome from the Park Run organisers before the group was set on the way for some three laps of the park. Standout performers on the day included Laura Tuite who had a fine run coming home first lady in a tidy 18.45, Sarah Hawkshaw was third woman in 19.13 with ladies captain and chief organiser Jenny Johnston fourth woman. Throughout the whole group of Clonliffe women great performances by all and a special mention must also be made of Siobhan Devaney’s very young daughter who ran beside Siobhan completed the entire 5K with a big smile on her face. Of the menfolk Scott Crowley and Mick McMahon were first and second (sorry guys I didn’t get your time). It was a a most enjoyable outing for the entire crew. Well done one and all.
