Alan Worrall: On Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd June Big Time Athletics makes its first of 2 appearances at Santry this summer. The 2nd time will be the eagerly awaited Morton Games on the 17th July, keep an eye on any updates on the club website.
Up to 650, male and female athletes from across Europe (Olympians/World Class) will compete over a wide variety of track and field events. The holding of the event is a mammoth task for both the organisers and the various associations and partners. This is where you come in.? With an event of this magnitude we need to show Europe we can do a good job. Think back to the Special Olympics World Games in 2003, the World Cross Country in 2002 and more recently the European Cross Country Championships in 2009 at Santry. All these events were well organized, went off without hitches and most importantly were well stewarded. We are therefore appealing for additional stewards on the above dates so we can deliver a safe and memorable. What’s the deal?
- The usual fee? Well not really
- Event T-Shirt
- Tea and Sambo
But most importantly of all, you will be participating and helping make the event a success.
Therefore we need your help, the clock is ticking. If interested please contact the following by Sunday 16th June latest as we need to arrange accreditation, t-shirts etc. If you cannot do both days, one day will do?
If you have volunteered already , Many thanks you will need to advise your clothing sizes ASAP. A timetable will follow shortly i.e Issue of accreditation, Parking, Briefing, stewarding posts etc
