The Clonliffe club Championships got underway with an excellent 10,000 race last night featuring a titanic battle between the ultimate victor Sean Doran and Tom Sherlock who pushed Sean all the way. A popular winner of the women’s 10,000 championship was Aisling Andrews.
The action comes thick and fast now as next Thursday, May 5 is the night of both the 400 and 5000 Championships with cash prizes for the first 3 men and women in each. Entry is now open. Entry should be made through the coach of the training group, for grading purposes, in case we need to have more than one race, please coaches let us have the name and indicative finishing time for each athlete. Entry will close on Tuesday night, May 3rd, no late entries will be accepted after that time. Entry please by email only to events.clonliffeharriersac@gmail.com. Please note that the 5000 championship also doubles as the Grand Prix race, the same entry procedure for Thursday night applies to Grand Prix athletes, you must enter through your group coach using the same process. Club athletes who are not in a Clonliffe training group you can of course enter yourself. Athletes who are not a member of Clonliffe Harriers but who are with a Clonliffe training group can also enter the Clonliffe club Championships and run as a guest but you will not bag the cash!
On Thursday May 19th the club 1500 and 200 will be held, followed by the 800 and 100 on Thursday, June 2. Entry for these nights will open the weekend before each.
