Athletes and coaches please be aware, as per previous postings, that entry to the 2021 Christmas cake race closes tomorrow. Entries are needed for handicapping purposes. Any one who wishes to run but does not enter by tomorrow evening, can of course run but will not have a handicap and will run off ‘scratch’. The Cake Race takes place on December 21st.
All entries to be sent by email only to events.clonliffeharriersac@gmail.com (please do not use any other email address, do not send your entry by text or WhatsApp), group coaches to send name of athlete, please also identify if the athlete is a junior, senior or master and a predicted time. If you are not in a group please enter yourself using the same method. The handicapper will have regard to the predict times but rest assured will also use his discretion!
The entries and start order will be published on this website on Monday. The race itself, which is a race for both women and men, will start at 7:45 PM. The entry fee is a donation of whatever sum you consider appropriate put in an envelope and nominate the charity of your choice on the outside of the envelope. The total sum collected will be donated to the charity that receives the most nominations (please do not nominate your bar tab!).
The cake race is sponsored by the women and men’s captains and there will be prizes for the first junior, senior and master woman and man home as well as a prize for the fastest woman and fastest man. Due to the current Covid situation the club dressing rooms and shower facilities remain closed and unavailable, athletes should therefore arrive ready to run. All athletes running in the cake race must wear a bright top for safety purposes. Please no exceptions, please no one arrive dressed like a ninja.
As cake race night coincides with the first anniversary of Joe Cooper’s passing all are asked to wear one of the replicas of Joe’s world famous orange hat in the race. Hats will be distributed to all on the night. The prize-giving and so on will unfortunately have to take place in the open and unfortunately we will not be in a position to hold the usual cake race night of festivities and debauchery.
Please at this stage get your entries in today or tomorrow
