The Grand Prix Sub Committee have confirmed the dates for the ever popular Grand Prix Series. 2018 will be the 18th running of the series, (doesn`t time fly!), first won in 2001 by Jimmy Bennett and last year by Emma Dunne, the first lady to take the series. All the club`s “heritage” races are once again included: The Horan Cup, Irwin Cup, McDonald Cup, Walker Cup, the list goes on and on.
The series commences with the traditional opener, the Frank White Cup, 5 mile on the track in Morton Stadium on March 29th, a race which two years ago saw Sergiu Ciobanu run a new Irish record, and then runs for 16 rounds until the Horan Cup on November 24th. In between are races for all and on all surfaces: track, road, grass and the country.
Once again sponsors are in place, including Behan & Associates the overall series sponsor, so the prospects of athletes picking up a prize or two are pretty good.
