The Ahern family along with friends and fellow clubmates from Clonliffe Harriers fondly remembered Dylan Ahern at today’s Dylan Ahern 5k Steeple chase cross country in Malahide. Dylan who passed away suddenly almost 12 years ago was of course a member of Clonliffe Harriers and a member of his father Maurice’s training group in Malahide. The group regularly held a 5K cross country steeplechase which was a personal favourite of Dylan’s and fittingly that race is now the Dylan Ahern Memorial. Today’s race once again brought together the entire training group for the annual handicap. As always there was a fine turnout with the race winner being Philip O’Doherty (19.11). Fastest man on the day was Ray Dunne who recorded a time of 18.52 with Emma Dunne’s 21.59 the fastest woman.
