Apr 30, 2010 [Stephen Byrne]

The Noel Guiden sponsored Santry Demesne Mile took place yesterday evening where 34 athletes toed the line for round 3 of the Clonliffe Grand Prix. A helter skeltar start to the race soon seen the race thining out with a number of interesting battles throughout the field. Guest athlete Niall Sherlock opened a gap on Terry, Philip and Dermot early on leaving them to battle it out for the runner up positions. Mark Birmingham running with an injury picked up in the Bupa 10K finished in a great time of 5:13. Other notable times Robert Beckett 5:28, Sean Doran 5:35 and Colm Breen 5:46.

In fairness to our gaggle of handicappers Paul Carolan, Pat Bonass and Pat Healy, 80% of athletes with a handicap for the race where within 10 seconds of their predicted times.

When the handicaps were taken into account the winner of the race was young Sean Doran with John Fay in 2th place and Conor Delaney in 3rd place. Fastest Grand Prix athlete was Terry McLoughlin.
