Tomas Rauktys: Statement from Clonliffe Harriers A.C.

Clonliffe Harriers A.C. confirms that Tomas Rauktys, a member of Clonliffe Harriers A.C., has been found by the Irish Sports Anti-Doping Disciplinary Panel to have committed an anti-doping rule violation. Athletics Ireland and the Irish Sports Council have today jointly announced that the Panel has determined that Tomas Rauktys has committed an anti-doping rule violation having tested positive for the presence of a prohibited substance in a sample of his urine which was collected following last July’s National Senior Track and Field Athletics Championships at the Morton Stadium Santry. The athlete has been sanctioned by a period of ineligibility of two years from the 15th of August 2013 which was the date of the imposition of a provisional suspension.

Clonliffe Harriers A.C. are extremely disappointed and shocked that one of the club’s athletes has committed a doping offence. Clonliffe Harriers abhors the use of drugs in our sport. Clonliffe Harriers are fully supportive of the excellent work which is being carried out by the Irish Sports Anti-Doping Programme. The matter will be considered further by the Committee of Clonliffe Harriers A.C. at a meeting on Tuesday next.
